Notes from the Life and Times of an Average Person Doing Their Best A Note From the Author
What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
Romeo & Juliet, Act II scene ii
By any other name would smell as sweet.Welcome to my first blog since graduating from middle school. My name is … a long story and a very proper noun. (shout out to all the schoolhouse rock! fans in the audience)
These days I go by Kit, although my government name is Katherine. I was given the obvious Kate/Katie variation by my parents and family. I wanted to change my name to Kimberly when I was about 6 years old, because that was the name of the pink power ranger and she was undeniably cooler than me. It wasn’t until college when I decided to change up the spelling to Kait. That held for a good decade, but I never really loved my name.
Anyway, I’m not sure what this is yet. I suspect, much like my name, it will develop and evolve over time. Ultimately, finding identity through trial and error.
Thanks for taking the ride with me.
